Your age, sex, race, culture, faith, social status, ability, and lifestyle have no bearing on the qualities which you'll receive in counselling. I'm lucky enough to have lived and worked with people from all walks of life and this is a great privilege in counselling too. The strength of my practice rests on equality of both parties involved. Something I reiterate to clients time and again is that this isn't all me ~ this is us, together, in a collaboration, an open process, in which I learn and grow and thrive just as much. It's reciprocal and vibrant and for that I'm eternally thankful.

Ethos:

I'm a person-centred counsellor delivering a warm and supportive integrative approach including transactional therapy, CBT formulations, and psychodynamic therapy. I find that anxiety and depression are especially prevalent given the pace and structure of modern life, therefore they're commonly worked with in tandem to other presenting issues.

Tension often brings us to counselling, whether it be a result of sudden or unforeseen circumstances, from historical upheavals and traumas, or a combination of both. Everyone deserves a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings in confidentiality. When this environment is created, we're able to build a landscape, diffuse and dis-empower panic, to reflect and make sense of what we have experienced, what is important to us, and where we'd like to go to next.

We're all involved in a myriad of relationships. At times, some of these may begin to feel imbalanced, unhappy, counterproductive, or unsustainable. Whether that be with ourselves, partners, children, family members, friends, colleagues, neighbours, or acquaintances. We also have relationships with our environments, our homes, places of work, cities, with food, hobbies, jobs, money, our bodies, cultures, and technology, to name but a few.

Beginning to understand the intricacies of our relationships and roles in one area casts much light on other parts of our experience. Oftentimes, greater clarity and understanding leads to an uplift in our quality of life due to increased confidence, autonomy, fulfilment, and enjoyment.

"Testimonial 1"

"Sahar is the reason I feel like a new person. Life before her was very tiring and lonely. It was also hard because I felt overwhelmed by my problems, like I was drowning.

Sahar enabled me to breathe and experience myself anew. Her heart was in every session, which made me feel like I mattered for once. She did not try to change me; she accepted me throughout, warts and all. In fact, she not only accepted me, but encouraged me to be more of "me", as if "me" was something worth celebrating!

I spoke to Sahar about experiences that caused me shame and sadness, and never once did I feel judged. I felt validated, heard, and held as I explored aspects of my past and present that I never shared with anyone else.

She was open and real with me throughout, and was professional without ever losing her personal warmth (be warned: her laugh is infectious!).

I would recommend Sahar to anyone because life is brighter having met her."

"Testimonial 2"

"Sahar is an excellent counsellor. On several occasions she has gone above and beyond to research particular topics ahead of our sessions, which has really helped. She's easy to talk to and I have found her person centred approach truely beneficial over time. Would highly recommend."

"Testimonial 3"

"After several negative therapy experiences I had almost given up. Your approach gives me hope for a future for myself, and your patience and guidance has helped me tackle some of my most frightening history, and lessen the pain and shame.

I understand my mind better after this year, and only want to continue. And a whole year - I never thought I could be so introspective for so long, but I look forward to our sessions, they feel like a safe space for me because of you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

"Testimonial 4"

"Sahar was a great counsellor who listened carefully, shared her knowledge and experiences, and was very non-judgemental.

She did not give direct answers but made me think about my thought process and gave me a different perspective to look at life.

I like the fact that she went over and summarized the previous session before starting the new session and asked me what I wanted to talk about in each session.

I definitely recommend her as she really helped me in one of the darkest phases of my life."

"Testimonial 6"

"Receiving counselling from Sahar has helped me in my home life, work life, and with navigating relationships.

I feel confident knowing I have an opportunity to check in with her if needed, but I feel comfortable with where we have left things."
